🏙️ Edmonton hosts 50+ festivals annually — more per capita than almost any city in Canada. The ones below are the cream of the crop for summer 2026. Many are fully free. This city goes absolutely hard in summer.
June — All Month
Over 50 events throughout June produced by up to 30 organizations and allies. Club nights, art shows, outdoor socials, drag performances, film screenings, and community mixers across the entire city. Culminates in the Pride Festival late in the month.
June 19 – 28
World-class jazz at venues all over the city — Yardbird Suite, Starlite Room, La Cité Francophone, and outdoor stages. Mellow and lively in equal measure. Most outdoor shows are completely free. Perfect summer evening energy for a bar crawl through Old Strathcona.
June 21 – July 1
North America's largest free outdoor art and design festival — celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026! Hundreds of performances, massive sculptural installations, murals, and live music spread across downtown Edmonton for 11 straight days.
July 10 – 12
Historic Whyte Ave transforms into an open-air gallery as local artists exhibit right on the street. Completely free, completely social. One of the most beloved neighbourhood events in the city. Pair it with bar hopping along the strip for an unbeatable Saturday afternoon.
July 17 – 19
Top-tier stand-up comedy under the stars across three nights. Nationally recognized headliners in a relaxed outdoor setting. The perfect group event for people who don't all agree on music but everyone loves laughing. Bring lawn chairs and a cooler.

Edmonton's premier outdoor food festival takes over Sir Winston Churchill Square for 11 days. 50+ local restaurants serve up signature bites at festival prices, paired with live entertainment on multiple stages every single day. The best way to eat your way through the city's best restaurants.

Edmonton's iconic 10-day summer fair. Rides, midway games, fireworks, nightly concerts, SuperDogs, gaming exhibitions, vintage market, Indigenous Experience — the list is genuinely endless. A summer tradition since 1879. Overlaps with Taste of Edmonton for a stacked week of back-to-back events.

Canada's largest multicultural festival at Hawrelak Park. 90,000+ attendees, 60+ countries, multiple stages, and arguably the best international food you'll ever eat in Edmonton — all in one weekend. Free entry, just pay for the food (which is the entire point).
August 7 – 9
60,000+ people descend on Churchill Square for three days of Caribbean culture. Friday Night Costume Extravaganza, the iconic Saturday Parade with spectacular costumes and soca music, a full Caribbean Village with live stages, food vendors, and a marketplace. Runs the same weekend as Folk Fest and Animethon.

Edmonton's biggest 2SLGBTQ+ celebration takes over Churchill Square for a multi-day free festival. Live headliner performances, drag shows, community stages, vendor markets, and a sea of colour. Free and all-ages.

Edmonton's fastest-growing celebration of Afro-Caribbean culture, right at ICE District's Fan Park. Two days of international stars and local artists, cultural showcases, delicious food vendors, dance workshops, and a youth stage. Free and downtown — one of summer's most electric atmospheres.

North America's biggest and oldest Fringe in Old Strathcona. Ten days of every kind of performance — comedy, drama, circus, and the genuinely bizarre. Plus sprawling beer gardens and buskers literally everywhere on Whyte Ave. Shows from $10–20, beer garden is always free to enter.
Late August (Labour Day Weekend)
The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra performs outdoors at Snow Valley under the stars. A beloved annual tradition — bring a blanket, a picnic, and wine. One of the most civilized evenings Edmonton offers all summer. Kids 17 & under free on the grass.
Edmonton Mural Festival
Watch massive murals come to life in real time across the city over summer. Artists from around the world transform building walls into stunning public art. Walking tour routes available. Ongoing throughout summer — follow for new reveals all season.

Canada's ONLY LPGA Tour event returns to Edmonton at historic Royal Mayfair Golf Club. The best women golfers on the planet compete all week — defending champ Brooke Henderson expected back. LPGA Tournament of the Year in 2022 and 2023. Proceeds support Stollery Children's Hospital ($3.9M goal).
All Summer Long
The Elks play their CFL home schedule at Commonwealth Stadium all summer — the same venue as Post Malone, AC/DC, and Guns N' Roses. Fast-paced Canadian football, great stadium atmosphere, and tickets at a fraction of NFL prices. Check the schedule for themed nights and giveaways.
July 18 – 19, 2026
Elite international athletes compete in Sprint Triathlon and Mixed Relay events along the scenic River Valley — one of the most beautiful race courses in Canada. Free to watch along the entire course. Happens right in the middle of K-Days weekend — the city is absolutely electric.
Mid-August
Annual dragon boat racing at Louise McKinney Riverfront Park. Teams race head-to-head in the North Saskatchewan River — a spectacle of colour, drumbeats, and energy. The Chinatown Dragon Festival runs nearby the same week with the Canadian National Lion Dance Championships and Taste of Chinatown.

Thousands of athletes tackle a course through Edmonton's iconic river valley. Full marathon, half, 10K, 5K and more. Amazing to spectate even if you're not running — the energy along the course is infectious, especially near the finish line downtown.
